*** SCALETTA CAPTURES SECOND TITLE ***
John Scaletta survived four rounds of match play to earn his second ABT Masters title in our Washington's Birthday Special at AMF Rolling Meadows. John qualified 10th for the top 12 finals and advanced to the championship match by defeating Scott Tansor 219-185, Harvey Berry 248-190, and Greg Pregrocki 228-200. His opponent in the title match was Mark Clark, who qualified third and advanced by defeating James Dillon 212-174, RIck Riddle 228-224, and Mark Schlink 216-166. Scaletta took the early lead in the match, but when he failed to convert the 3-10 baby split in the sixth, Clark doubled to take a 9-pin lead. Scaletta came right back with a turkey in frames 7-9 to retake the lead for good as he won by the final score of 218-206.
Champion's Profile: John Scaletta is 49 years old and employed as a Manager in the Cook County Treasurer's Department. He is married to Linda and they have two adult children, Lisa and John. John started bowling in Junior Leagues and now bowls league at Manor Bowl. He has eleven 300 games to his credit and a high series of 835. John was rolling a Speed Zone drilled by Paul Marcinek at Specialized Pro Shop in Roselle. He thanked the staff at AMF Rolling Meadows and the ABT staff. His winnings will be used to pay off some bills. John said he was glad the ABT created the Masters Division and started the Progressive Pot and that more bowlers should give it a try.
CONGRATULATIONS JOHN!
Tournament Notes: In this week's Beat the Director Match, ABT Director Ed Mousseau defeated David Hirsch 215-180. David received the $25.00 Consolation Award. Bobby Bass won the $25.00 Spectator Bonus Award. The carryover for the next BTD at Rynish stands at $830.00.
Congratulations to John Berg, who won $500.00 by breaking a strike pot on his way to a nice 289 game.
