*** VILMIN WINS AT BOWL-MOR ***

Dawn Vilmin made her ABT debut a very successful one by capturing her first title at Bowl-Mor Lanes. David O. Donahue opened the stepladder finals by defeating Billy Stees 200-181. Vilmin then defeated Donahue 173-155 and Robert Stees 165-155 to earn her shot at top seeded Ron Ermel. Ermel started the championship match with a turkey to take a quick 16-pin lead after 3 frames but ran into spare shooting difficulty, failing to convert in 4 of the next 6 frames. Meanwhile, Vilmin was a model of consistency as she spared in the first five frames, struck in the 6th, then stayed clean the rest of the way as she pulled away to the final 196-155 victory.

Champion's Profile: Dawn Vilmin is an "over 21" Postal Carrier. She is married to Weston and they have a 14-year-old son, Nick. Dawn started bowling in junior leagues and currently bowls at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford and Mt. Morris Lanes. She has a high game of 276 and a 668 series to her credit. Dawn was using a Brunswick Zone, which she bought while at the WIBC Nationals in Buffalo, New York. She said that lots of people have helped her with her game over the years. She thanked the ABT and Bowl-Mor Lanes for having the tournament, and she thanked Cindy Hunsberger for talking her into joining the ABT. Dawn had no immediate plans for her winnings, but said that a trip to the riverboat was a definite possibility. Dawn said that the ABT was a really nice tournament and that the people she bowled with made it very enjoyable.

CONGRATULATIONS DAWN!

Tournament Notes: Congratulations to David Hirsch on a fine scratch 287 game, breaking the 285 pot for $500. Congratulations also to John Heath, who won this week's drawing for a Storm El Niņo.
