*** RUSSELL WINS SECOND CLASSIC TITLE ***
Fred Russell won his second ABT Classic title by climbing the ladder at Brunswick Lakehurst Bowl. Fred started his climb by defeating Chris Dubis 216-177. Next up was Alan Lass who fell 227-205; Russell then eliminated Joe Zupancic 206-195 to move into the championship match against top seed Linda Letto. Linda took the early lead in the title match and led by fifteen pins at the end of five frames. The second half of the match became a split-shooting contest as Linda failed to convert two baby splits while Fred made the 3-9-10 then the 3-10 to overcome the deficit and win by the final score of 183-176.
Champion's Profile: Fred Russell is 59 years old and employed as an electrician. He is married to Jean and they have two adult children, Scott and Barb. Fred has been bowling for 41 years and bowls league at Bertrands. He has a high game of 286 and a high series of 682 to his credit. Fred was using a Storm El Niņo drilled by GW Gregg. Fred said that his son, Scott, has helped him to improve his game. He thanked the ABT staff, Brunswick Lakehurst Bowl, and GW Gregg for a good drilling job. Fred had no immediate plans for his winnings.

In this week's Beat the Director Match, ABT Director Ed Mousseau defeated David Buss 197-184. David received the $25 consolation award. Lisa Partynski won the $25 Spectator Bonus Award. The carryover for the next BTD now stands at $1,227. Next BTD -- Memorial Day.
