Becky Rakowski won her first ABT title by defeating Tony Bolwin 170-168 at Brunswick Lakehurst Bowl. Becky was the top qualifier for the top 12 finals, which earned her byes in the first two rounds of match play. In round three she defeated Mary Ristoff 194-169 to advance to the championship match. Tony Bolwin qualified 4th for the top 12 finals and advanced to the title match by defeating Jon Emmerich 196-155, Bob Switzer 185-168, and Dolores Finley 205-170. Rakowski started slowly in the championship match as she opened in the first three frames, allowing Bolwin to wipe out her handicap advantage and take a slim 3-pin lead after five frames. Three consecutive rails for Bolwin in frames 6-8 saw Rakowski go ahead by 25 entering the final two frames. Becky opened in the 9th and 10th frames, which left Tony needing a double to win the match. He struck in the 9th and threw a good shot in the 10th, but left a stubborn 10-pin and Becky hung on for the 170-168 victory.
Champion's Profile: Becky Rakowski is 45 years old and employed as a Receptionist for King-Fischer Company. She is married to Jeff and they have three children, Dave, Sandy, and Tom. Becky has been bowling for 26 years and bowls league at Arlington Heights Lanes. She has a high game of 237 and a 600 high series to her credit. Becky was using a Purple 3D Hammer drilled by GW Gregg. Becky said that her son Dave and her husband Jeff have helped her with her game and equipment. She thanked them for their help and support and also thanked the ABT staff and Brunswick Lakehurst Bowl. Becky's winnings will go towards home improvements. Becky said that she has been bowling the ABT for two years and loves it, and it was really great to be standing in the winners circle.

Beat the Director: In the Beat the Director match, ABT Director Ed Mousseau defeated Duane Garrett 181-155. Duane received the $25 consolation award. The carryover for the next BTD now stands at over $1,900. Next BTD will be at AMF Rolling Meadows at the Firecracker Singles.
