*** WOLTMAN WINS AT LAKEHURST ***
Jake Woltman survived four rounds of match play to win his first ABT Masters title in the Father's Day Special at Brunswick Lakehurst Bowl. Jake qualified 11th for the top 12 finals, then defeated Rick Slusin 239-228, John Scaletta 250-207, and Tim Ellis 218-186 to advance to the championship match. His opponent was Dean Bissias, who qualified 4th and advanced with victories over James Dillon 237-228, David Buss 193-176, and Leroy Walker 215-208. Jake started the title match slowly, with splits in the first two frames, but quickly made an adjustment and strung the next nine strikes. Meanwhile, Dean Bissias had split trouble of his own with three splits in the first four frames, and he never recovered as Jake cruised to the final 264-152 victory.
Champion's Profile: Jake Woltman is 20 years old and employed in shiping and receiving for NNT Corp. He is single and has been bowling for eight years. Jake currently bowls league at Lombard Lanes and has a high game of 300 and a 777 high series. He was rolling a Columbia Ti-Boss drilled by Lynn Corey at Star Pro Shop in Addison. Jake said that Jerry Romano has helped him with his game ever since he was in Juniors. Jake thanked his family for always being there for him, as well as Tiffany Kight and Keri Musial for all their support. His winnings will be used to pay some bills and to celebrate his 21st birthday on June 26th. Jake also thanked Lakehurst for a great tournament, and the ABT for having such special and supportive people.
CONGRATULATIONS JAKE!
Tournament Notes: Congratulations to Jason Wojnar, who won $500 by breaking a strike pot on his way to a nice 299 game. Nice bowling, Jason!
Beat the Director: In the Beat the Director match, ABT Director Ed Mousseau defeated Duane Garrett 181-155. Duane received the $25 consolation award. The carryover for the next BTD now stands at over $1,900. Next BTD will be at AMF Rolling Meadows at the Firecracker Singles.
