*** SHERIDAN WINS AT WHEATON ***
Richard Sheridan won his first ABT title by defeating Mark Witherby 213-210 at Wheaton Bowl. David Lee opened the stepladder finals by defeating Domingo Rosa, Jr. 195-193 in a one-game roll-off after they tied at 186. Lee then defeated Diana Murphey 212-149 before falling to Mark Witherby 228-214. The championship match was a nail-biter that came down to the final frame. With Sheridan clinging to a one-pin lead entering the 10th, Witherby counted seven on his final fill ball, while Sheridan got nine to account for the final three-pin victory.
Champion's Profile: Richard Sheridan is 54 years old and self-employed as a carpet cleaner. He is married to Debbie and has been bowling for about thirty years. Richard currently bowls league at Burr Oak Lanes and has a high game of 267 and a 686 high series to his credit. He was using a Bonanza ball drilled by John Edwards at Tinley Park Bowl. Richard said that Jim Peters has helped him to improve his game. He thanked his wife, Debbie, for all her support as well as the ABT and Wheaton Bowl staffs for all their hard work. Richard said he was "going to the boat" with his winnings.
CONGRATULATIONS RICHARD!
