*** NOLTE NAILS TITLE AT WHEATON ***

Rich Nolte won his second ABT Masters title with a 193-186 victory over Mike Courtney at Wheaton Bowl. Nolte opened the stepladder finals by defeating Jeff Boyd 228-220. He then eliminated Bobby Bass 184-171 in a one-game roll-off after they tied at 204. Nolte then squeaked by Rick Hara 218-217 to advance to the title match. The championship match was a seesaw affair that entered the tenth frame with Courtney ahead by four pins. Nolte bowled first and counted spare/strike to put the pressure squarely on Courtney's shoulders. Needing a mark to win, Courtney pulled his first shot high, leaving a rail that he couldn't convert. Nolte was the winner by a final score of 193-186.

Champion's Profile: Rich Nolte is 46 years old and employed as a truck driver. He is married to Jeannie and they have four children: Ryan, Kevin, Justin, and Kristin. Rich has been bowling for 20 years and currently bowls in the ABT league at Espo's Country Lanes. He has a high game of 299 to go along with a 745 high series to his credit. Rich was rolling a Storm El Niņo drilled by Joe Bacagaluppi at Back to Basics Pro Shop inside Espo's. Rich said that Mike Martenson has been helping him to adjust to changing lane conditions and in staying focused. Rich thanked the ABT, Wheaton Bowl, his wife Jeannie and his daughter Kristin, Mike Martenson and Jennifer Meyer, J.S. Scaletta, and all the spectators who cheered him on during the finals. Rich said it was tough bowling against friends in the finals, especially since Rich was Mike Courtney's best man at his wedding last March.

CONGRATULATIONS RICH!

Tournament Notes: Congratulations to Rick Hara, who won $500 by breaking the Strike Pot in game 2. Congratulations also to Jason Wojnar, Todd Siadek, and Tom Sims, who shared the $500 Strike Pot in game 4.
