*** AEMISEGGER WINS FIFTH AT RYNISH ***
Curt Aemisegger won his fifth ABT Masters title with a 282-186 romp over
Dave Palojarvi, Sr. in our Kick Off tournament at Rynish Bowling Center. Curt qualified
fifth for the top eight finals, then dominated his opponents as he advanced by defeating
Steve Lewis 251-196 and Keith Garrett 237-194. Dave Palojarvi, Sr. qualified fourth and he
too registered strong wins over Rich Caduto 207-187 and Scott Safransky 258-212 to set up
what looked like a whale of a championship match. It started out to be just that as both
bowlers struck in the first three frames. A "big four" in the fourth frame
seemed to take the wind out of Palojarvi's sails just a little, but Aemisegger never
missed a beat, taking a perfect game into the tenth frame. Aemisegger lost the perfect
game in the tenth, but of course the match was over by then and he was perfectly happy to
settle for his fifth title by the final score of 282-186.
Champion's Profile: Curt Aemisegger is 44 years old and single. He
is employed as the head mechanic at AMF Rolling Meadows. Curt currently bowls leagues at
Hawthorn, Espo's, and Brunswick
Zone Niles. He has a high game of 300 and an 858 high series to his credit. Curt was
rolling a Columbia Pearl Quake drilled by Jeff Daggett at Strike Zone Pro Shop inside AMF
Rolling Meadows. Curt credits Mitch Sachs and Bill Spigner as having helped him with his
game. He thanked them for their help and he also thanked Jeff Daggett, Karen Ellingsworth,
and Linda Crowder for all their support. Curt said that his winnings would be used for the
ABT Las Vegas
Nationals in March. Curt also thanked all the proprietors around Chicagoland
for hosting ABT events, and the many volunteers who help each week. saying that without
them there wouldn't be a tournament. We couldn't agree more!
CONGRATULATIONS CURT!
Beat the Director: In the Beat the Director match, ABT Director Ed
Mousseau defeated Keith Bennett 189-187. Keith received the $25 Consolation Award. Roger
Partynski won the $25 Spectator Bonus Award. The carryover for the next BTD now stands at
$767.
Tournament Notes: The winners in our Membership Drive were drawn
this weekend. Bill Brown won the trip to Las Vegas; Jeff Rakowski won free entry in each
singles tournament through Memorial Day; Mark Beyer won a color TV; Garry Holman won a
bowling ball. Congratulations to all our winners and thanks to everyone who made this
drive a huge success.
