*** MITCHELL WINS AT ESPO'S ***
Jim Mitchell won his first ABT Masters title by defeating Rich Flood
222-203 at Espo's Country Lanes. Jason Wojnar opened the stepladder finals by defeating
Frank Tardio 221-186. He then eliminated Paul Bober 250-179 before falling to Rich Flood
301-192. In the title match Mitchell struck in three of the first four frames to open up a
39-pin lead. A turkey for Flood in frames 5-7 cut the lead to ten but Mitchell came right
back with a double in frames 8 and 9 to close out the match by the final score of 222-203.
Champion's Profile: Jim Mitchell is 27 years old and single. He is
employed as a Civil Engineer and has been bowling for 17 years. Jim currently bowls league
at Woodfield Lanes and has a high game of 278 and a 732 high series as his personal bests.
He was rolling a Track Triton Heat drilled by Brad Snell. Jim said that lessons from Brad
Snell have helped him to improve his game. Jim thanked Chris Ferris for getting him to
join the ABT. He also thanked the ABT and Espo's Country Lanes for having the tournament.
Jim said his winnings would be used to pay off his car loan. Jim also said that he was
very nervous but it was a great feeling to win.
CONGRATULATIONS JIM!
Tournament Notes: Congratulations to John Scaletta who won $500 by
breaking a strike pot on his way to a nice 289 game. Nice bowling John!
