*** BERRY WINS FIRST AT THUNDERBIRD ***
Harvey Berry won his first ABT Classic title by defeating John Johnson
270-236 at Thunderbird Lanes. Berry was the top seed for the stepladder finals and waited
as Johnson worked his way up the ladder by defeating Rick Burandt 233-166, Raphael Marquez
243-165, and Jan Flynn 234-203. Johnson had a 17-pin handicap advantage to start the
championship match but Berry quickly erased that with a 4-bagger in the first 4 frames.
After going wide in frame 5, Berry strung another 5 strikes to win going away 270-236.
Champion's Profile: Harvey Berry is 33 years old and married to
Camille. He is employed as the Director of Store Operations for Bedmart. Harvey has been
bowling for 26 years and currently bowls leagues at Espo's
Country Lanes and Streamwood Lanes. He has a high game of 299 and a 717 high
series to his credit. Harvey was rolling a Storm
La Nina drilled by Joe Bacagaluppi at Back
to Basics Pro Shop, inside Espo's Country Lanes. Harvey thanked Thunderbird
Lanes for hosting the event, his wife Camille, his mother Lucille, his dad Harvey Sr.,
Rich Newland and all of his ABT "family" for their support. Harvey said that his
winnings would go into the bank except for the part he is taking to Las Vegas.
CONGRATULATIONS HARVEY!
Tournament Notes: Congratulations to Dominick Campese who won $500
by breaking a 285 pot this week. Carol Gregorich was this week's winner in our Storm ball raffle.
