*** RODRIGUEZ CAPTURES FIRST MASTERS TITLE ***
Tom Rodriguez won his first ABT Masters title by defeating Jerry Krause
246-218 at Bertrand Lanes. Tony Mula opened the stepladder finals by defeating Hank Duncan
213-165. Mula then eliminated Mike Meifert 206-190 before being squeaked out by Rodriguez
207-205. Jerry Krause started the championship match with a 4-bagger to wipe out
Rodriguez's 23-pin handicap advantage and go ahead by 11 pins. Rodriguez then strung a
4-bagger of his own in frames 7-10 to retake the lead and win going away 246-218.
Champion's Profile: Tom Rodriguez is 30 years old and single. He is
employed as a carpenter and has been bowling for 22 years. He currently bowls leagues at
Bertrand Lanes and Sunset Bowl. Tom has a high game of 280 and a 769 high series to his
credit. He was rolling a Brunswick Zone drilled by George Lawrence at Bertrand Lanes. Tom
thanked Karla Lewis, Ashley Lewis, and Fran Goerler for their support, the ABT for having
the tournament, and Bertrand Lanes for hosting the event. Tom said his winnings would be
used towards a truck and some new tools for work.
CONGRATULATIONS TOM!
