*** MITCHELL WINS SECOND TITLE ***
Edwina Mitchell won her second ABT Classic title by defeating Whip Ibanez
228-195 in our Easter Special at Brunswick Zone Lakehurst. Edwina qualified 6th for the
top eight finals and defeated Mike Malisheski 232-221 and Emmons Randolph 200-185 to
advance to the title match. Whip Ibanez qualified 4th and earned his berth in the
championship match with wins over Rich Paglusch 192-183 and Ernie Majarucon 220-176. The
title match was extremely close for the first eight frames with Mitchell clinging to a one
pin lead at that point. Ibanez left a baby split in the 9th frame that he failed to
convert, opening the door for Mitchell who took advantage with a turkey in the 9th and
10th frames to pull away to the final 228-195 victory.
Champion's Profile: Edwina Mitchell is 38 years old and employed as
a Q & A Training Coordinator for Envirotest Illinois. She is married to John and they
have two children, Kiara and Kia, ages 19 and 5. Edwina has been bowling for 20 years and
currently bowls ABT only. She has a high game of 279 and a 710 high series to her credit.
Edwina was rolling a Storm Bolt
drilled by G.W. Gregg. Edwina said that Lisa Partynski helped her out this week by getting
her lined up during the semifinals. She thanked all her ABT friends for their support and
Brunswick Zone Lakehurst for a great shot. Edwina said her winnings would be used for
moving expenses and a shopping spree. This was only Edwina's second trip to the finals in
four years, but she has won both times.
CONGRATULATIONS EDWINA!
Tournament Notes: Elias Gumabong was this week's winner in our Storm Ball Raffle.
BTD: In the Beat the Director Match, Brian Kaddatz defeated ABT
Director Ed Mousseau 255-246 to win $487. Rob Dinger won the $25 Spectator Bonus Award.
