Bob Udseth ended an 18-month drought between victories by capturing the Memorial Day Open title at Woodfield Lanes with a 196-172 victory over Scott Radtke. Udseth qualified 14th for the top 16 match play finals and advanced by defeating Tom Carter 200-182, Jim Fishman 39.6-29.2 after tying at 192, and Steve Kmetz 219-204. Radtke qualified 7th and he advanced with victories over Jose Lopez, Jr. 210-175, Gary Damato 257-229, and Bill Choporis 273-222. The championship match was extremely close for the first six frames but Radtke couldn't buy a double and Udseth managed a turkey in frames 7-9 to come away with the 196-172 win.
Champion's Profile: Bob Udseth is 32 years old and employed as an administrative Assistant. He is single and has been bowling for about 25 years. Bob does his league bowling at Hawthorn Lanes, Elk Grove Bowl, and Fox Bowl. His high game is 300 and he has a high series of 844. Bob was rolling a Pearl Menace drilled by Carl Edelman at Up Your Average Pro Shop. Bob thanked Tom Sims and Carl Edelman for their support along with the ABT staff and Woodfield Lanes for having the tournament. Bob said he would take his winnings "to the boat".
