*** SOKOLOWSKI WINS AT STARDUST ***
Tony Sokolowski won his second ABT Classic title by defeating
Michael Brown 208-176 at Stardust Bowl. Frank Way opened the stepladder finals
by defeating Michael Morales 203-192. Michael Brown then defeated Morales
196-171 and Bill Wrenn 230-206 to earn his shot at top seed Tony Sololowski. In
the title match, Sokolowski struck in five of the first six frames to wipe out
Brown's handicap advantage and take a 39-pin lead. Brown cut into the lead over
the last four frames but couldn't catch Sokolowski, who went on to win by the
final score of 208-176.
Champion's Profile: Tony Sokolowski is 53 years old and
employed as a CFO for Media Network. He is married to Linda and they have three
children: Michael, Jennifer, and Danny, ages 25, 16, and 14. Tony has been
bowling for 34 years and currently bowls ABT only. He has a high game of 279 and
a 747 high series to his credit. Tony was rolling a Columbia Chaos drilled by
Paul Marcinek at Specialized Pro Shop in Roselle. Tony said that his dad got him
started in bowling. He thanked the ABT and Stardust Bowl for having the
tournament. He also thanked all the ABT volunteers and staff, saying that
without them there wouldn't be any weekly tournaments. Tony plans to use his
winnings for a family vacation. He dedicated this win to his late son Michael,
who passed away this past January and was a great bowler.
CONGRATULATIONS TONY!
