*** CARTER CAPTURES FIRST AT STARDUST ***
Tom Carter won his first ABT Masters title by climbing the
ladder at Stardust Bowl. Carter qualified 5th for the stepladder finals and
started his climb by defeating Lee Love, Jr. 203-169. He then eliminated David
Backstrom 205-148 and Tony Pezzulo 219-202 to move into the title match against
top seed David Palojarvi, Sr. In the title match, Carter struck in three of the
first four frames to erase Palojarvi's handicap advantage, then turkeyed in
frames six through eight to put the game away with a final score of 200-173.
Champion's Profile: Tom Carter is 43 years old and is the
proprietor of T-Byrd Lanes in Rochelle, IL. He is married to Linda and has been
bowling for 26 years. Tom does his league bowling at T-Byrd Lanes. His high game
is 300 and he has a high series of 847. Tom was rolling a Pearl Night Hawk that
he drilled himself. He said that his wife, Linda, and Tony Jordan have helped
him with his game. Tom thanked his wife for all her support and his mother for
getting him started in bowling. He also thanked Bobby Bass, saying that without
his support he wouldn't be bowling as much as he is. Tom said he would give his
winnings to his wife and let her decide what to do with the money. Last but not
least, Tom thanked Stardust Bowl for hosting the event, and the entire ABT staff
for giving bowlers the opportunity to compete.
CONGRATULATIONS TOM!
