*** LEE WINS FIRST AT THUNDERBIRD ***
John Lee won his first ABT Masters title by defeating Todd
Siadek 220-188 at Thunderbird Lanes. Bill Brown opened the stepladder finals by
defeating Rick Slusin 224-173. Jack Keith then defeated Brown 233-211. John Lee
took the measure of Keith 275-222 in match 3 to set up the championship match.
Todd Siadek turkeyed in frames 2-4 to take an early 21-pin lead in the title
match but Lee took over from there as he turkeyed in frames 5-7, then again in
the 10th to account for the final score of 220-188.
Champion's Profile: John Lee is 25 years old and single.
He is employed as an Order Checker for IMC Holdings. John has been bowling since
age five and currently bowls league at Lakes Bowl. He has a high game of 299 and
a 796 high series to his credit. John was using an AMF Slam drilled by Joe
Piagentini at Lake Bowl. John credits his father, Harvey Lee, as having helped
him to develop his game. He thanked his mom and dad for their support and all
the spectators who were cheering him on. John said that really helped him in his
victory. John's winnings will be used to pay some bills (some will be kept for
play). John thanked Thunderbird Lanes for hosting the tournament and said that
his first ABT win was really special and long overdue.
