***BELL
WINS FIRST AT LAKEHURST***
Tamara Bell won her first ABT Classic title in our Summer
Sizzler event at Brunswick Zone Lakehurst. Tamara survived a 3-way roll-off to
capture the final spot in the top 8 finals then advanced to the title match by
defeating Rich Paglusch 197-188 and Ralph Randolph 241-194. Her opponent in the
championship match, Yoon Hong, qualified 1st for the finals and advanced with
victories over Miguel Morales 225-209 and Darryl Purdy 250-218. Tamara took
control of the title match with a 5-bagger in frames 3-7 but Yoon Hong turkeyed
in frames 5-7 to stay within 21 pins of the lead. A 2-10 split for Yoon in the
8th frame proved to be disastrous as Tamara kept blasting away to win by the
final score of 261-206.
Champion's Profile: Tamara Bell is 30 years old and
single. She is employed as a Tax Accountant and has been bowling for seven
years. Tamara does her league bowling at Lombard Lanes and has a high game of
277 and a 655 high series to her credit. She was rolling a Track Champ drilled
by Leon Buroff at Bowlers Corner Pro Shop inside Lombard Lanes. Tamara credits
Leon's coaching over the summer as having helped her to improve her game. She
thanked her dad for getting her started in bowling, all her friends for cheering
her on to victory, and her sister Tina for attending bowling camp with her. She
also thanked Brunswick Zone for hosting the tournament and the entire ABT staff
for running a great event. Tamara said that part of her winnings would be used
for next year's ABT Nationals and the rest would be used to party.
CONGRATULATIONS
TAMARA!
