***CUNNINGHAM
EARNS BLACK SHIRT AT LAKEHURST***
It took Rob Cunningham 8 years to win his first ABT title but
only six months more for his second as he claimed title number 2 in our Summer
Sizzler at Brunswick Zone Lakehurst. Rob qualified 3rd for the top 8 match play
finals and advanced by defeating Lance Courtley 262-233 and Tony Pezzulo
242-231. Walter Pekovitch joined Rob for the title match by qualifying 6th and
advancing with victories over Patrick Cooper 262-216 and John Heath 220-206. Rob
started the championship match with 7 strikes to open a huge lead and a game
comeback by Walter in the second half of the match just wasn't enough as Rob
went on to win by the final score of 245-218.
Champion's Profile: Rob Cunningham is 26 years old and
single. He is employed by Abbott Labs and he has a 5-year-old son named Sean.
Rob has been bowling for about 20 years and bowls leagues at Bertrand Lanes and
Hawthorn Lanes. His high game is 300 and he has a high series of 781. Rob was
rolling a Columbia Titanium Messenger drilled by Bill Spigner. Rob said that his
dad, Roy, got him started in bowling and still coaches him. He thanked the ABT
and Brunswick Zone for having the event. Rob said his winnings would be used to
pay bills and to enter more ABT tournaments. Rob also thanked the ABT for
running fun, fair tournaments.
CONGRATULATIONS
ROB!
