***KLENK CAPTURES FIRST AT HAWTHORN***

Keith Klenck won his first ABT Masters title by surviving four rounds of match play in our Labor Day Open at Hawthorn Lanes.

Keith qualified 2nd for the top 16 finals then advanced to the championship match by defeating Ed Krug 231-217, Don Dahm 199-183, and Bobby Bass 221-213. His opponent for the title was Jake Woltman who qualified 12th and advanced with wins over Art Cherry 250-218, J.S. Scaletta 271-245, and Steve Mende 246-161. Klenk took control of the title match right from the outset by striking in the first 4 frames to open up a 49-pin lead. Woltman was never able to recover and Klenck cruised to the 234-175 victory.

Champion's Profile: Keith Klenck is 36 years old and employed as a Cook County Sheriff. He is married to Annie and they have 3 children, Jackie, Jessie, and Nicky, ages 11, 8, and 6. Keith has been bowling for 30 years and currently bowls league at Diversey River Bowl. His high game is 300 and he has an 835 high series to his credit. Keith was using a Track Champ drilled by Jose Torres at Action Pro Shop. He thanked his wife and kids for all their support and said his winnings would go into a savings account. Keith also thanked the ABT for running a very fair tournament.
