***KOSZOLA CLAIMS FOURTH TITLE***
Steve Koszola won his fourth ABT
Masters title in our Octoberfest event at Rynish Bowling Center. Koszola
qualified 5th for the top 8 finals and advanced by defeating Rick Hara 206-199
and Bobby Bass 195-181. His opponent in the championship match was Angelo
Pancotto, who qualified 4th and advanced with victories over Jim Fishman 259-258
and Scott Safransky 225-220. Pancotto had the lead for the early part of the
match, but Koszola doubled in the 4th and 5th frames to take the lead by two
pins at the end of five frames. A rail for Pancotto in frame six allowed Koszola
to expand his lead to 12 and he held on from there, winning by the final score
of 200-187.
Champion's Profile: Steve
Koszola is 37 years old and employed as an Operating Manager for Oberweiss Dairy.
He is married to Jody and they have three children: Crystal, Steven, and Britnee.
Steve has been bowling for 27 years and bowls league at Broadview Bowl. He has a
high game of 300 and a 793 high series to his credit. Steve was rolling a
Columbia Ti Boss drilled by Joe Bacagaluppi at Back to Basics Pro Shop inside Espo's
Country Lanes. Steve credits Geno Belfiore as having helped him work on
his game. He thanked his dad and dedicated his win to Joe Witcher, who passed
away this week. Steve also thanked the ABT and Rynish Bowling Center for putting
on a great tournament. He said that his winnings would be spent on his wife and
kids.
CONGRATULATIONS STEVE!
Beat the Director: In the Beat the Director match, ABT
Director Ed Mousseau defeated Herman Roebke 188-178. Herman received the $25
Consolation Prize. Jeannie Nolte won the $25 Spectator Bonus Award. The
carryover for the next BTD stands at $789. Next BTD will be on November 5th at
Brunswick Zone Lakehurst.
