***SCHEFTEL FIRST AT THUNDERBIRD***
Barry Scheftel won his first ABT
Classic title by defeating Andrew Treletsky 223-168 at Thunderbird Lanes. Walter
Brandt opened the stepladder finals by defeating Chuck Ravenscraft 212-188. He
then eliminated David Lewis 191-177. Barry Scheftel then defeated Brandt 246-219
to set up the championship match. Scheftel took control of the title match from
the get-go as he strung a 5-bagger in frames 2-6 to pull away from top seed
Andrew Treletsky, going on to win by the final score of 223-168.
Champion's Profile: Barry
Scheftel is 54 years old and employed as a Facilities Manager for the Palatine
Park District. He is married to Jeannine and they have two children, Brad and
Heather, ages 17 and 21. Barry has been bowling for 35 years and currently bowls
leagues at Thunderbird and AMF Rolling Meadows. He has a high game of 294 and a
650 high series to his credit. Barry was rolling a Columbia Blue Pulse drilled
by Rippers Pro Shop. Barry thanked his wife and children for their support and
said that part of his winnings would be used to take them out to dinner. Barry
also said that he loves bowling the ABT because everyone is terrific.
