***WACH CAPTURES ANNIVERSARY TITLE***
Joe Wach won his first ABT Masters
title and second ABT title overall by defeating Mike Meifert 257-174 in our 9th
Anniversary Tournament at Brunswick Zone Lakehurst. Joe qualified 8th for the
top 8 finals, then advanced by defeating Harold Morton 264-192 and Dan Sloan
237-235. Mike qualified 5th for the finals and he advanced with victories over
Jay Hess 277-271 and Hank Duncan 222-221. In the championship match, Mike
couldn't find the carry he had earlier while Joe struck 9 times to pull away to
the convincing 257-174 final score.
Champion's Profile: Joe Wach is
a 21-year-old student at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. He has been
bowling for 13 years and currently bowls at school. Joe has a high game of 300
and a 736 high series to his credit. He was using an AMF Night Hawk SPT drilled
by Rick Rechter. Joe said that his teammates at school have helped him to
improve his game. Joe thanked his parents for all their support and the ABT and
Brunswick Zone for a well-run tournament. Joe said that his winnings would be
used to buy some new equipment and pay some bills.

Beat the Director: In the Beat the Director match, ABT
Director Ed Mousseau defeated Jim Mitchell 49-38 in a 2-frame roll-off after a
180 tie. Jim received the $25 Consolation Award. Mike Martenson won the $25
Spectator Bonus Award. The carryover now stands at $995.
Tournament Notes: Congratulations to Brian Metrick, who
won $500 by breaking a 295 Pot. Congratulations also to all of our squad prize
winners. In all, over $1,400 in squad prizes was awarded to 38 different
winners.
