Mark Math won his first ABT Classic
title by climbing the ladder at Wheaton Bowl. Mark qualified 4th for the
stepladder finals and started his climb by defeating Jim Wilson 162-157. Next up
was Eric Zeedyk, who fell by the score of 251-210. Mark then squeaked by Greg
Gates 177-174 to reach the championship match against top seed Gabriel Alvarado
II. Gabe had a 26-pin handicap advantage to start the match, but Mark caught him
in the 5th frame, then turkeyed in the 7th, 8th, and 9th frames to seal the
victory 221-194.
Champion's Profile: Mark Math
is 30 years old and employed as a Hotel Manager. He is currently single and has
a 3-year-old daughter named Taylor. Mark has been back in bowling for about a
year and a half after a lengthy hiatus. He currently bowls at Brunswick Zone
Mages and has a high game of 300 and a 767 high series to his credit. Mark was
using a Storm SP drilled by Jim at Rippers Pro Shop. He said that lots of
practice has helped him to improve his game. Mark thanked his daughter for
giving him the strength to bowl, and Rick Hansen for his support during the
finals. Mark planned to use his winnings to visit his daughter.
CONGRATULATIONS mark!
Tournament Notes: Along with his win this week, Mark also
earned his "diploma" and will now be testing his skills in our Masters
Division.
This week's winners in our Storm raffle were Bill Bushman and
Joe Lambert. Scott O'Neill and Gabriel Alvarado II each won $500 by breaking 285
pots. Congratulations to all!
