Lee Cooke fired a 758 handicap series
in our sweeper at Sunset Bowl to capture his first ABT Masters title. Lee used
games of 247, 236, and 275 to easily outdistance Ken Knaak and Jose Lopez, Jr.,
who tied for second place at 721.
Champion's Profile: George
(Lee) Cooke is 59 years old and employed as a Senior Tech Representative for
Imagetec LP. He is married to Judy and they have two adult daughters, Sherry and
Stacey. Lee has been bowling for about 40 years and currently bowls league at
Sunset, Bertrand's and Lakehurst. His high game is 300 and he has a high series
of 774. Lee was using a Columbia Messenger drilled by G. W. Gregg. He thanked
his wife for putting up with his bowling absence, and the ABT and Sunset Bowl
for holding the tournament. Lee said that his winnings would pay off his gas
bill and make for a very bright Christmas. He also said that winning this week
capped off a very special year for him.
