Rick Hara made it back-to-back wins in the Masters Division when he defeated Sheldon Mathis 227-186 in this week's event at Espo's Country Lanes. John Lee opened the stepladder finals by defeating Hank Duncan 210-150. Lee then ousted Flor Serain 227-203. Sheldon Mathis then uncorked a nice 279 scratch game to defeat Lee 295-227 with handicap. The championship match was close for the first four frames, with Mathis holding a slim three-pin lead at that point. Hara took over from there with a five-bagger in frames four through eight to pull away to the final score of 227-186.
Champion's Profile: Rick Hara is 39 years old and employed as a mortgage planner. He is single and has been bowling for 34 years. Rick bowls league at Diversey River Bowl and has a high game of 300 to go along with a high series of 810. Rick thanked the ABT, Espo's, and all the friends who have supported him. He hopes to use his winnings for the ABT Nationals in Vegas.
