Kathy Atkins won her first ABT Classic title by defeating Tamara Bell 232-218 at Brunswick Zone Lakehurst. Tamara Bell opened the stepladder finals by defeating John Hobscheid 207-184. She then eliminated Lavell Wynn 227-196 and John Cernoch 245-235 to advance to the championship match against top seed Kathy Atkins. Kathy started the title match with a four-bagger to open up a huge 69-pin lead after just four frames. Tamara never gave up, however, and a five-bagger in frames six through ten got her back in the match but Kathy closed the show with a spare and a strike in the tenth to win by the final score of 232-218.
