Stephen Lewis won his fourth ABT Masters title by defeating Kermit Crowe 246-184 at Brunswick Thunderbird Lanes.
Anthony Chorak opened the stepladder finals by defeating Raymond Paez 259-228. He then eliminated Walter Pekovitch 220-209 before falling to Kermit Crowe 224-192. Stephen Lewis started the championship match with a double to wipe out Crowe's handicap advantage and take an 11-pin lead. Crowe answered with a double of his own in frames three and four to cut the deficit to six pins, but Lewis fired back with a four-bagger in frames five through eight to take control of the match, winning by a final score of 246-184.
Champion's Profile: Stephen Lewis is 27 years old and employed as a teacher. He is single and has been bowling for 12 years. He currently bowls league at Hawthorn Lanes and has a high game of 300 to go along with a 789 high series. Stephen was using a Columbia TI Messenger drilled by Ron Dompke. He credits Dick Williams as having helped him improve his game. Stephen thanked all his friends who stayed to support him during the finals, and his family for their unyielding support. Part of his winnings will be used for a sumptuous dinner at Olive Garden with the rest going into the bank. Stephen thanked his opponent, Kermit Crowe, for a great attitude and closed his interview with a P.S. to Binky: "I always keep my promises."
