*** frazier first at bertrands ***

Thomas Frazier won his first ABT Classic title by defeating Scott Payne 221-192 at Bertrand Lanes. Scott Payne opened the stepladder finals by defeating Frank Oberlander 206-181. In match two, Scott tied with Isaac Zamora at 199, requiring a one-game roll off. Scott won the roll off 207-187. He then eliminated Quang Truong 191-177 to advance to the title match against top seed Thomas Frazier. The championship match saw Frazier get off to a slow start as he opened in three of the first five frames, allowing Payne to build a 35-pin lead. Frazier righted himself in the second half of the match as he strung a six-bagger to come from behind and win going away by the final score of 221-192.

Champion's Profile: Thomas Frazier is 40 years old and employed as an Instructor. He is married to Darla and they have three children: TaRodney, TaNesha, and Alexis, ages 17, 14, and 3. Thomas has been bowling for 30 years and does his league bowling at Brunswick Zone Lakehurst. He has a high game of 289 and a 713 series to his credit. Thomas was rolling a Track Assassin drilled by Jim Erickson at Sunset Bowl. Thomas credits his dad and brother as having helped him to develop his game. He thanked God for allowing him to win, Jim Erickson for his tips, and his family and friends for their support. Thomas said his winnings would be used for bills and pleasure. His advice to other bowlers: "Keep the faith."
