Pat Cornell won his second ABT Masters title with a 233-176 victory over Donald Dahm at Rynish Bowling Center. Pat qualified eighth for the top 12 finals and advanced by defeating Flor Serain 223-185, Ed Seliga 225-207, and Donnie Kaskadden 237-229. Donald qualified 11th and advanced by defeating George Dome 242-218, Mike Pompa 215-168, and Dwight Bergner 210-188. In the championship match, Cornell started with a double to quickly eliminate Dahm's handicap advantage and he cruised from there, as Dahm was never able to line up on the championship pair.
Champion's Profile: Pat Cornell is 50 years old and employed as a shipping clerk for Patten Screw Products. He is married to Brenda and they have a 27-year-old daughter named Trisha. Pat has been bowling for 32 years and currently bowls leagues at Hawthorn, Fairhaven, and Sunset Bowl. His high game is 300 and he has a high series of 858 to his credit. He was using a Columbia Rock drilled by Bill Spigner, whom Pat credits as having helped him to improve his game. Pat thanked his dad and the entire ABT staff. His winnings will be used for more tournaments.
Tournament Notes: This week's winner in the Storm bag raffle was Nancy Lhotak.
BTD: In the Beat the Director match, ABT Director Ed Mousseau defeated James Bissias 228-205. James received the $25 Consolation award. Edwina Mitchell won the $25 Spectator Bonus Award. The carry-over for the next BTD now stands at $1,803. Next BTD: Easter Weekend at Espo's.
