Sylvia Kane climbed the ladder to earn her first ABT title at Stardust Bowl. She started her climb by defeating Ray Ames 203-147. Next up was Frank Kirchman, who fell 204-162. Sylvia then ousted Michelle Leonard 180-167 to earn her shot at top seed Wayne Malec. Sylvia doubled to start the championship match and that, coupled with her handicap advantage, gave her a lead that Wayne was never able to overcome as she won by the final score of 213-184.
Champion's Profile: Sylvia Kane is 31 years old, single, and employed as an accountant. She has only been bowling for a year and does her league bowling at Lombard Lanes, Stardust Bowl, and River Grove Bowl. Sylvia has a high game of 212 and a 489 high series to her credit. She was rolling a Columbia White Dot drilled by Leon Buroff at Lombard Lanes. Sylvia said that her boyfriend, Chris Cintron, has been helping her to work on her game. She thanked Chris along with Tamara Bell, John Sypniewski, Skip O'Dell and Cary Vincent for all their help and encouragement. Sylvia said her winnings would be used to pay off some bills.
BTD: In the Beat the Director Match, Jeff Rakowski defeated ABT Director Ed Mousseau 193-161 to win $621. Rick Wunder won the $25 Spectator Bonus Award.
