***KNOCKEL BREAKS THROUGH AT BERTRAND'S***

It took a while but Gary Knockel finally earned his first ABT Masters title with a 215-211 victory over Dennis Dostalek at Bertrand Lanes.

Jim Tostrud, Jr. kicked off the stepladder finals by defeating Vince Banks 230-209. Caleb Feinstein then rolled over Tostrud 241-219. Dennis Dostalek then bounced Feinstein 260-209 to advance to the title match against top seed Gary Knockel. Dostalek held the lead through most of the championship match, but Knockel turkeyed in the seventh, eighth, and ninth frames to come from behind, hanging on in the tenth to win by the final score of 215-211.

Champion's Profile: Gary Knockel is 40 years old and married to Joan He is employed as a Plant Supervisor at Dearborn Wire and Cable. Gary has been bowling for 12 years and bowls league at Bertrand Lanes. He has a high game of 289 and a high series of 806 to his credit. Gary was using a Red Alert drilled by Jim Erickson at Sunset Bowl. He thanked his wife for all her support and the ABT staff for all their hard work. Gary said he would bank his winnings from this title and added that he hopes it doesn't take as long for his next one.

Tournament Notes: Congratulations to Dennis Dostalek and Tony Kaskadden, who each won $500 by breaking 295 Pots in game four. This week's winners in the ball and bag raffle were Nick Oswald and Mary Ristoff.
