Jeff Daggett earned his "black shirt" by winning his second ABT Masters title in our tournament at Fair Haven Lanes.
Jerry Marrs kicked off the stepladder finals by defeating Gary Knockel 201-180. Jim Servis then eliminated Marrs 263-180 and Peter Hykes 218-168 to advance to the championship match against top seed Jeff Daggett. Jeff left a rail in frame one and watched his handicap advantage disappear, but Jim gave it right back with a rail of his own in frame two. Jeff turkeyed in frames two through four to build a 30-pin lead. Jim was never able to cut back into that lead and Jeff went on to win by the final score of 233-180.
Champion's Profile: Jeff Daggett is 43 years old and single. He is self-employed as the owner of Strike Zone Pro Shop, located inside AMF Rolling Meadows. Jeff has been bowling since age six and does his league bowling at AMF Rolling Meadows. He has a high game of 300 and a 799 series to his credit. Jeff was using a Columbia Titanium Messenger that he drilled himself. He credits Karen Ellingsworth and Shirley Hintz as having helped him to improve his game. Jeff thanked AMF Rolling Meadows for the free practice, Bill Wrenn, Dolores Finley, and Matt Barker for their support. He also thanked Fair Haven Lanes for hosting the event and the ABT staff for running a wonderful tournament. His winnings will be used for ABT Vegas in October. Jeff didn't get into the Progressive Pot because he was supposed to bowl in the Peterson on Sunday and wasn't expecting to bowl well this weekend. The other Masters are saying, "Thanks for the carryover, Jeff!"
