Jason Graham won his first ABT Masters title with a 257-222 victory over Gabriel Rodriguez at Brunswick Zone Lakehurst.
Matt Barker kicked off the stepladder finals by defeating Tim Culp 267-240. Jason Graham then eliminated Barker 257-211 and Bernie McStay 211-179 to advance to the championship match against top seed Gabriel Rodriguez. Both bowlers started the title match with a spare and a double, but Graham left a split in frame four while Rodriguez spared again to open a 26-pin lead. Graham turned things around quickly as he fired a six-bagger in frames five through ten. Rodriguez was unable to keep pace, allowing Graham to pull away to the final 257-220 victory.
Champion's Profile: Jason Graham is a 19-year-old student employed at Hawthorn Lanes. He is single and started bowling at age three. Jason bowls leagues at Hawthorn Lanes and 3D Bowl, and has a high game of 300 and an 808 high series. He was using a Super Power Pearl drilled by Brian Chilcutt at Bill Spigner's Pro's Corner, inside Hawthorn Lanes. Jason said his dad was instrumental in his learning to bowl. Jason thanked his dad, the ABT, and Brian Chilcutt for their help and support. His winnings will be used to take a trip. Jason closed his interview by congratulating his dad for making it back from surgery.
