Harvey Lee won his third ABT Masters
title by defeating Russ Krueger 260-240 at Glenwood Bowl. Krueger was trying to
go from fifth to first and started his climb by defeating Joe Hernandez, Jr.
225-208. Next up was Jason Wojnar, whom Krueger eliminated 41.6 to 26.4 in a
two-frame roll-off after they tied at 208. Gary Knockel was Krueger's next
victim, falling 220-214. Harvey Lee started the title match with four strikes to
take an 18-pin lead after four frames. Krueger came back with a five-bagger to
take the lead by five pins after six frames. Lee then turkeyed in frames seven
through nine to retake the lead for good and claim his third title.
Champion's Profile: Harvey Lee
is 61 years old and employed as a Draftsman for Gewalt Hamilton Company. He is
married to Jane and they have an adult son, John. Harvey has been bowling for 40
years and currently bowls league at Fair Haven Lanes in Mundelein. His high game
is 300 and he has a 759 high series to his credit. Harvey was rolling a Storm
X-it drilled by Joe Piagentini at Lakes Bowl. Harvey said that his son John
coaches him and helps with his game. He thanked the ABT and Glenwood Bowl for
having the tournament. He also thanked Jack and Kristi Haas and Peg George for
their support during the finals. Harvey said his winnings would be used to pay
some bills and to bowl more ABT events.
