*** farris first at bertrands ***

Joe Farris proved that perseverance pays by winning his first ABT Classic title in our tournament at Bertrand Lanes. Joe has been bowling regularly for nine long years in the ABT and it finally paid off this week.

In game one of the finals, Robert O'Neill 195 defeated Tracy Ford 193 and Joe Johnson 163. In game two, Frank Accardo 213 bested Robert O'Neill 175 and John Claussen 167. In game three, Joe Farris 200 eliminated Rob Jenels 191 and Frank Accardo 188 to advance to the title match against top seed Rich Nolte. When game one between Nolte and Farris ended in a tie at 200, they had to do it all over again, with Farris prevailing this time by the score of 205-179.

Champion's Profile: Joe Farris is 63 years old and employed as a machinist for Meyer Engineering. He is married to Judy and they have four adult children: Vicki, Christi, Juli, and Lori. Joe has been bowling for 35 years and currently only bowls in the ABT. He has a high game of 296 and a 747 high series to his credit. Joe was using a Storm Bolt drilled by GW Gregg. He thanked all his bowling buddies for their support, the ABT for giving him a place to compete, and the good Lord for giving him the good health to be able to bowl. Joe plans to use his winnings for a new kitchen for his wife, Judy.

CONGRATULATIONS joe!
