James R. White won his first ABT Classic title by defeating Earmon Taylor 194-178 at AMF Rolling Meadows.

In match one of the eight-man stepladder finals, Andy Heroff 227 defeated Karen Koenen 195/47.6 and Ronnie Stines 195/31.8. In match two, Earmon Taylor 216 defeated Andy Heroff 209 and John Riechert 207. In match three, Earmon Taylor 205 defeated Scott O'Neill 198 and Mike Lukachik 191 to advance to the title match against top seed James R. White. The championship match was close throughout and all came down to the final frame. Needing a mark to win, White tossed a double to account for the final 194-178 score.

Champion's Profile: James R. White is 20 years old and single. He is employed as an Air Importer for Yusen. James has been bowling for ten years and currently bowls league at Wood Dale Bowl. He has a high game of 289 and a 780 high series to his credit. James was using a Storm Trauma drilled by Joe Bacagaluppi at Back to Basics Pro Shop, inside Espo's Country Lanes in Elgin. He said that his dad, James A. White, has helped him to improve his game. James thanked his parents for getting him started in bowling, the ABT staff and AMF Rolling Meadows for having the tournament, and everyone who supported him during the finals. James said that his winnings would be used for more tournaments.
