Kevin Frank won his first ABT Classic title
by defeating Pete Tagalos 226-177 at Lakewood Bowl.
In match one of the top eight finals, Craig
Flesburg 251 defeated Herman Roebke 231 and Tyson Wilson 154. In match
two, Joe Maltese 222 defeated Craig Flesburg 209 and Leo Trudeau 196. In
match three, Pete Tagalos 219 defeated Joe Maltese 213 and John Angone 179
to advance to the title match against top seed Kevin Frank. A couple of
missed spare opportunities for Pete in frames five and six of the
championship match allowed Kevin to build a 45-pin lead and he was able to
cruise from there.
Champion's Profile: Kevin Frank is 21
years old and currently serving in the U.S. Navy. He is married to Renea
and they have two daughters, McKenzi and Kaylie, ages 15 months and four
years. Kevin just started bowling a little over a year ago and currently
bowls league at Rynish Bowling Center. His high game is 207 and his high
series is 579, both of which were bowled in this week's semifinals. Kevin
was using a Columbia Reaction Roll drilled by Joe Bacagaluppi at Back to
Basics Pro Shop. Kevin credits Dwayne Simpson and his wife Renea as having
helped him to improve his game. He thanked them both for all their help
and support. Kevin said his winnings would be used for more new equipment
and a new pair of jeans. It seems Kevin ran into a bit of a problem with
the jeans he was wearing just as the semis began. A strategically placed
safety pin allowed him to continue.
CONGRATULATIONS kevin!
Tournament Notes:
Congratulations to Larry Helton and John Getta, who broke 285 Pots this
week. Larry had a perfect 300 game while John had a fine 289. Nice
bowling, guys! |
