Gordon Anderson won his first ABT Masters title with a 203-182 victory over Jon Chonar at Wheaton Bowl.

In match one of the eight-man stepladder finals, Rick Slusin 261 defeated Angelo Pancotto 204 and Chris Regas 199. In match two, Slusin 235 defeated Tim Culp 207 and Harvey Lee 204. In match three, Gordon Anderson 238 defeated Vince Banks 185 and Rick Slusin 183. Anderson opened the title match with a turkey to take early control and build his lead to 32 pins after five frames. Chonar cut into the lead in the second half of the match, but Anderson easily hung on and won by the final score of 203-182.

Champion's Profile: Gordon Anderson is 50 years old and employed by Rexnord, Inc. He has four children: Brenda, Steve, Rick, and Sheila. Gordon has been bowling for 37 years and currently bowls league at Lombard Lanes. His high game is 300 and he has a 790 high series to his credit. Gordon was using a Storm Trauma Response drilled by Dave Camastro. Gordon is a self-taught bowler and said that he had no immediate plans for his winnings. He thanked Wheaton Bowl, the ABT, and all of the other participants. Gordon said that the victory over Jon Chonar was "sweet revenge" since Jon had defeated Gordon in the finals of a previous ABT event.
