Frank Oberlander won his first ABT Classic title by defeating Alfred McGowan 185-149 at Espo's Entertainment Center. Frank was the top qualifier for the top 12 finals, giving him a bye in the first two rounds of match play. In round three, he defeated Dan Brancecum, Sr. 203-184 to advance to the championship match. Alfred McGowan qualified second, giving him a bye in round one. He then defeated Joe Maltese 177-153 and Adrian Weidenfeller 214-164 to earn his berth in the championship match. The first half of the title match was close with Alfred ahead 113-107 after six frames. The wheels then fell off for Alfred as he opened in the last four frames while Frank stayed clean to pull away to the final 185-149 victory. Champion's Profile: Frank Oberlander is 33 years old and employed as a Bank Manager. He is married to Debra and they have a 10-year-old daughter named Danielle. Frank has been bowling for 15 years and bowls league at Crystal Bowl. He has a high game of 289 and a 702 high series to his credit. Frank was using a Storm El Nino 2000 drilled at Tim's Pro Shop. He thanked his family and his ABT friends for their support and Espo's for hosting the tournament.
