Angel Asuncion won his first ABT Classic title in our Super Bowl event at Lombard Lanes. Angel qualified second for the top 12 finals, earning him a bye in round one of the match play. He then defeated Paul Donisch 161-153 and Chris Van Wieren 219-209 to advance to the championship match. His opponent for the title was Yolanda Mascorro, who qualified 10th and advanced by defeating David Lewis 205-190, Rose Morrissey 252-200, and Rich Ebel, Jr. 206-199. Yolanda had a 13-pin handicap advantage to start the championship match, but she opened in the first two frames, allowing Angel to take the lead by nine pins. Angel stayed in control the rest of the way, pulling away to the final 221-186 victory. Champion's Profile: Angel Asuncion is 38 years old and employed as a Journeyman Lineman for Local 196 of the I.B.E.W. He is married to Sandy and has only been bowling for a year and a half. Angel bowls league at Brunswick Zone Lakehurst and has a high game of 257. He was using a Columbia Avenger drilled by Bill Spigner. Angel thanked all his friends for their support, especially Larry Guardiano, who got him started in bowling.
