*** barker wins third title***

Matt Barker won his third ABT Masters title by defeating Jack Haas 223-179 in our 11th Anniversary Tournament at Espo's Entertainment Center. Matt was the top qualifier for the top eight match play finals and he advanced by defeating Bob Bowser 197-172 and Steve Morrissey 224-194. Jack qualified third and he advanced by defeating Jim Fishman 265-200 and Dave Palojarvi, Jr. 230-195. In the title match, Matt strung a four-bagger in frames two through five to take control of the match, and Jack was never able to line up as Matt cruised to the 223-179 victory.

Champion's Profile: Matt Barker is 27 years old and single. He is employed as a culinary arts instructor and has been bowling for 15 years. Matt currently bowls leagues at Poplar Creek Bowl and Hawthorn Lanes and has a high game of 300 and an 817 high series to his credit. He was using a Brunswick Red Pin Zone X drilled by Tom Carter at T-Byrd Lanes. Matt said that Curt Aemisegger, Tom Carter, Davey Rosen, and Jeff Colianni have all helped him to work on his game. He thanked the ABT and Espo's for having the event, Tony and Gary Caraker for their support during the finals, Mike Martenson for gluing his thumb insert during the semis, and Jason Wojnar for the Red Pin Zone. Matt said his winnings would go to sponsors and future ABT events.

congratulations matt!

Tournament Notes: Anthony Weidenfeller won a new Storm ball by posting the high series on Friday night. Thanks to all the bowlers who came out to help us celebrate our eleventh year of operation here in Chicagoland. It's your continued support that keeps this club strong and we are looking forward to an even bigger and better twelfth year!
