Enrique Chavez won his second ABT Masters
title by defeating John Scaletta 234-197 at Brunswick Zone Lakehurst.
In match one of the stepladder finals, Davey
Rosen 205 defeated Dwight Bergner 174 and John Sypniewski 163. In match
two, Jim Wagenaar 232 defeated Michael Thomka 218 and Davey Rosen 197. In
match three, John Scaletta 250 defeated Leroy Walker 217 and Jim Wagenaar
200 to advance to the title match against top seed Enrique Chavez. The
championship match was close for several frames, but a missed spare for
John in the eighth opened the door for Enrique, who doubled in the eighth
and ninth and went on to win by the final score of 234-197.
Champion's
Profile: Enrique Chavez is 34 years old and employed as a fork lift
operator for Smurfit Stone Container. He is married to Laura and they have
a four-year-old son named Daniel. Enrique has been bowling for 16 years
and currently bowls league at Lakehurst. His high game is 300 and he has a
high series of 803 to his credit. Enrique was using a Brunswick Red Fuze
drilled by Eladio Morales at Lakehurst Pro Shop. He thanked God for his health and
ability, his wife Laura for letting him bowl, and the ABT and Lakehurst
for having the event. Enrique has no special plans for his winnings but a
trip to "the boat" would definitely be on the list.
congratulations
enrique!
