Dan Sloan won his second ABT Masters title
by defeating Chad Folkes 269-181 at Brunswick Zone Thunderbird.
In match one of the top eight finals, Dan
Sloan 298 defeated John Scaletta 203 and Tony Caraker 183. In match two,
Sloan 235 defeated Rick Slusin 209 and Russ Krueger 199. In match three,
Sloan 279 defeated James Bissias 267 and John Carlson 142 to advance to
the title match against top seed Chad Folkes. The championship was decided
quickly as Chad struggled in the first half of the match while Dan
continued his onslaught with nine strikes to easily cruise to the 269-181
victory.
Champion's
Profile: Dan Sloan is 54 years old and employed as a plumbing supply
salesman. He is married to Millie and they have a 24-year-old daughter
named Sandy. Dan has been bowling for 28 years and currently bowls league
at Brunswick Zone Niles. He has a high game of 299 and a 796 high series to his
credit. Dan was using a Storm Trauma ER drilled by William Clark at Grand
Bowl. He credits William Clark as having helped him with his game. Dan
thanked his wife for being there, all his friends from ABT for their
support, and the ABT staff and Thunderbird for having the event. This was
an especially big win for Dan since it came in his last event here in
Chicagoland. He and Millie are moving to Las Vegas next week and we wish
them both nothing but the best.
congratulations
dan!
Tournament Notes:
Congratulations to Chad Folkes, who rolled a perfect game during the
semifinals. Nice bowling Chad.
