Reid Flammang earned his "black shirt" by
winning his second ABT Classic title with a 212-203 victory over Scott
Modlin at Brunswick Zone Lakehurst.
Brad Bruce opened the stepladder finals by
defeating Steve Page 187-174. Bruce then eliminated Scott Payne 223-165
before falling to Reid Flammang 217-199. In the title match Reid used a
double in frames three and four to take a 17-pin lead over top qualifier
Scott Modlin. By the seventh frame Scott had cut the lead to just six pins
but that was as close as it got. Reid stayed clean in the last three
frames to come away with the 212-203 victory.
Champion's
Profile: Reid Flammang is 56 years old and employed as a truck driver.
He is single and has been bowling for about 35 years. He currently bowls
league at River Rand Bowl and has a high game of 299 to go along with a
756 high series to his credit. Reid was using a Lane 1 Buzz Saw drilled by
Joe Bacagaluppi at Back to Basics Pro Shop. He credits John Scaletta, Tom
Kouros, and the late Moe Kolcz as having helped him with his game. Reid
thanked the ABT staff and Lakehurst for a well-run tournament and John
Scaletta for his patience. Reid said his winnings would be put away for a
rainy day.
congratulations
reid!
Tournament Notes: Congratulations to Celso Alonzo who won $500 by
breaking a 285 Pot. This week's ball raffle winner was Eddie Abalos.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of ABT member Ken
Zink, who passed away last week.
