*** Clark wins presidents day event ***

Mark Clark won his fourth singles title and eighth ABT title overall by defeating Gary Burian 222-202 at AMF Rolling Meadows. Mark qualified sixth for the match play finals then advanced by defeating Curt Aemisegger 227-198 and Cliff Curl 254-231. Gary qualified fifth and he advanced with victories over Sal Suarez 273-187 and Ron Sereyka 251-206. The title match was close with Mark leading by just two pins after six frames. A turkey by Mark in frames seven through nine built the lead to 19, but Gary still had a chance to pull it out in the final frame. Needing to strike out for the win, Gary left a 10-pin on his first shot and the match was over.

Champion's Profile: Mark Clark is 28 years old and employed as a client service rep for Merrill Lynch. He is married to Kristie and has been bowling for 20 years. Mark currently bowls leagues at Poplar Creek and Burr Oak and has a high game of 300 and a high series of 824 to his credit. He was using a Brunswick Eliminator drilled by Tom Carter at T-Byrd Lanes. Mark credits Tom Carter, Danny Hayes, and William Wojnar as having helped him to develop his game. He thanked his wife and family for their support, Ron Bragg, the ABT, and AMF Rolling Meadows. Mark said his winnings would go towards a new house fund. Mark was recently reinstated in the ABT when the average rules changed in January, and he closed his interview by saying, "It's fun being back, and I am doing just ducky."

congratulations Mark!
