Tony Denos won his first ABT Classic title by defeating Larry Humikowski 237-180 at Lakewood Bowl. Darryl Purdy started the stepladder finals by defeating Lavonne Hayes-Strickland 223-182. He then eliminated Steve Kulinski 270-217 before falling to Tony Denos 226-211. In the title match top seed Larry Humikowski opened twice in the first four frames, allowing Tony to build up a 38-pin lead. Tony was able to cruise from there and he went on to win by the final score of 237-180. Champion's Profile: Tony Denos is 39 years old and employed as a truck driver for County Line Cartage. He is married to Kathy and they have two children, Anthony and Deanna. Tony has been bowling for seven years and currently bowls league at Arena Bowl. He has a high game of 289 and a 746 high series to his credit. Tony was using a Storm Shock Trauma drilled by Tom Barragan. Tony said that Ken from Ken's Pro Shop in Arena Bowl has been helping him to work on his game. He thanked his family for their support along with the ABT and Lakewood Bowl for having the tournament. Tony said that part of his winnings would be used for his son's birthday on the 13th and that he was really happy to be bowling in the ABT. congratulations tony!Tournament Notes: A special thanks to all the bowlers who turned out this week to make this our best south side event to date.
