Joshua Wastag won his first ABT Classic
title by defeating Robert Brezinski 226-182 at Hawthorn Lanes.
In match one of the stepladder finals, Irene
Pettus defeated Saul Bailey, Jr. 209-150. In match two Matt La Joy
defeated Pettus 227-213. In match three Robert Brezinski defeated La Joy
216-193 to advance to the title match against top seed Joshua Wastag. In
the championship match, Robert Brezinski opened in the first three frames,
allowing Joshua Wastag to build an early 22-pin lead. Brezinski doubled in
the seventh and eighth frames to cut into the lead, but Wastag came right
back with a turkey in frames eight through ten to put the match away by
the final score of 226-182.
Champion's
Profile: Joshua Wastag is 21 years old and single. He is employed as
an electrician with Local 150. Josh has been bowling for four years and
currently bowls league at Lakes Bowl. He has a high game of 262 and a 704
high series to his credit. Josh was rolling a Columbia Messenger drilled
by Bill Spigner at Hawthorn Lanes. He thanked the spectators who cheered
him on and the ABT for providing him with a chance to compete. Joshua said
his winnings would go into savings.
