Anthony Weidenfeller earned his black shirt
by winning his second ABT Masters title with a 218-205 victory over Chuck
Peters.
Chris Hrischuk opened the stepladder finals
by defeating James Kedroski 274-206. In match two Chuck Peters defeated
Hrischuk 242-194. Peters then eliminated Jack Haas 222-209 to advance to
the championship match against top seed Anthony Weidenfeller. In the title
match Peters opened in two of the first three frames, allowing
Weidenfeller to build a 14-pin lead. Peters doubled in the fourth and
fifth frames and then again in the eighth and ninth, but Weidenfeller
answered both challenges as he went on to win by the final score of
218-205.
Champion's
Profile: Anthony Weidenfeller is 23 years old and single. He is
employed as a general contractor and also works at Sunset Bowl. Anthony
has been bowling for seven years and bowls leagues at Hawthorn, Fair
Haven, Niles, and River Rand. He has a high game of 289 and a 794 high
series to his credit. Anthony was using an Ebonite Stinger drilled by Jim
Erickson at Sunset Bowl. Anthony credits Jim Gochis, Mitch Sacks, and
Brian Vandenboom as having helped him to improve his game. He thanked them
for their help along with Pete Gochis, Jim Erickson, and his brother Adrian. Anthony
also thanked the ABT and Hawthorn Lanes for having the tournament and said
that his winnings would be used for more events.
