Leonard Wright won his first ABT Classic title with a 232-214 victory over Jesus Ramirez at Brunswick Zone Deer Park. Debra Oberlander opened the stepladder finals by defeating Terysa Miller 211-199. Mike Martenson, Jr. then defeated Oberlander 209-193 before falling to Jesus Ramirez 239-207. In the championship match Leonard Wright used a double in the 4th and 5th frames to open up a 16-pin lead. Ramirez countered with a turkey in frames 4-6 to cut the lead back to five. The turning point came in the 8th when Ramirez chopped the 6-10 and Wright spared to go back up by 17 pins. Both bowlers matched marks in the 9th and 10th and Wright was the winner by the final count of 232-214. Champion's Profile: Leonard Wright is 55 years old and employed as a maintenance man at Lakes Bowl. He has four grown children: Jerry, Timothy, Lenny Jr. and Michael. Leonard has been bowling for 12 years and bowls league at Lakes Bowl. He has a high game of 257 and a 704 high series to his credit. Leonard was using a Monster Smash R drilled by Joe Piagentini at Lakes Bowl. He thanked Ken Nelson for bringing him to the tournament along with the ABT and Deer Park for having the event.
