***giannotti wins firecracker
singles title***
|
Lio Giannotti topped the field of 374
entries to capture his first ABT Classic title in our Firecracker Singles
event at Brunswick Zone Thunderbird.
Lio qualified 5th for the top 12 finals and
advanced by defeating Celso Alonzo 219-175, Larry Feiger 232-196, and
Keith Ellis 191-162. His opponent in the championship match was Sam Getta.
Sam qualified 7th and he advanced by defeating John Kolodziej 44.2-39.2 in
a 2-frame roll-off after tying at 175, Pat Kruschel 241-177, and Nancy
Packard 206-177. The championship match was close from start to finish but
open frames for Sam in the 9th and 10th paved the way for Lio to squeak by
with the final score of 173-164.

Tournament Notes:
We want to thank all the bowlers who came out to support this event. With
so many other things going on it would have been easy to understand if our
entries had been off a little from last year. They weren't! In fact they
were up beyond even last year's level. Keep up the great work and watch
prize funds continue to grow.
Don't forget the special promotion for the doubles coming up at AMF
Rolling Meadows. If you bring in and bowl with a new member your half of
the entry fee is free! There is no limit to how many free entries you can
earn.
